Splash Screen Help

Hi gang,

Does anyone know of a splash screen generator for the Tomtom Go 630? I'd like to put my Iron Maiden startup/shutdown screens that I had in place on my old unit.

Go here and select the 720 since it has the same widescreen (4.3") as the 630. Just upload the photo you want and install the file generated in the root of your 630.

Thanks dhn... it worked, but I still have black "strips" on either side of the pictures and they don't fill up the whole screen. They look okay though

With Windows Explorer open the photos folder. Open any TomTom supplied photos with your picture viewer (like Irfanview, etc.) and look if the size is listed as 480 x 272. (I don't know the 630 and am trying to establish if the picture is the same size as for the 920/930 models.)
If yes, take your original Iron Maiden picture and reduce, crop it to 480 x 272 pixels.
Save it with the name splashw.bmp and paste it in your device (root) directory.
You will be told that there is another file with the same name and asked if you want to replace that file. Say [YES].
Now, with HOME go Change preferences to Start-up preferences, click [Done] and click [YES] to the question Do you wish to change the start-up image?. then click on your just saved Iron Maiden.

Thanks for your help Arno, but I still have my black stripes on either side and now my antitheftw picture isn't the one I wanted. (Yes, the Warn Not To Leave In Car box is checked).

I had two Iron Maiden pics on my old unit, one at start up and one at shut down. The start up shot works (smaller size with the black stripes on the sides, and the shutdown one doesn't work at all (it seems to be pulling a picture from the photos folder).

Any ideas?

If you do have the widescreen 4.3" version, it cannot be displayed as standard 3.5", check to see if there is other 3.5" one in your device.

YES! This was the ticket! Thanks Piano, once I deleted the 3.5" stuff out of the unit it works perfectly.

Up the Irons! (That's an Iron Maiden thing)
