I am a UK based service engineer. I have been using TT since the year dot. On average I drive 2000 miles every 6 days. I have noticed in the past 6 months TT speed cameras are getting worse to useless. Some cameras have been in place for over 5 years and TT doesnt know others are updated almost weekly. They ignore my regular reports it seems. When I wrote to them a robot replied with the usual spin answer effectively blaming customers for not reporting. Any comments advice would be welcome.

Many UK (and other European) based members realize that TomTom's speed camera database is junk and use a subscription based database from pocketgpsworld.com. One of our supermods here, mikealder, is UK based and is also a moderator of that forum.

From all I read and see from users of the PGPSW speed cameras, the benefits are terrific. More information can be found here.

I should mention that we get no compensation for encouraging users to consider subscribing to PGPSW speed cameras other than the satisfaction of knowing the user will be well pleased.

If I were UK based, I'd join in a heartbeat.

Ah so its improved then if its only classed as "junk" :)

Seriously have a look at the link dhn offered, if you need any help/ assistance in setting it up just ask as its real easy, you can even configure the device to read out the type of camera and its associated speed limit so there is no excuse for getting points/ fines etc. The database also contains locations that are known to be regularly used for Mobile camera speed checks, there is no way of knowing if there will be a camera at these locations but if you know its a hot spot they use its better to get a warning and find there is nothing there than no warning at all! - Mike

Don't get me started on the Home saga, I am sure the forum has a limit to the length of any one post so its not worth wasting time on it!

As to what I think of the TT Safety Camera database in its various different offerings:

In Euorpe we get a number of offerings:

1/ Standard, which is nothing short of a joke as you get warnings of cameras that were removed years ago and a distinct lack of warnings for the Mobile cameras that to be honest are the ones that are more likely to catch you out.

2/ Live, the service you get downloaded to the PND from the server at TomTom HQ, the seed data is supplied from Road Angel who have a very credible database, but something is wrong as the device fails to alert to lots of well established camera locations

Perhaps its time to take a drive around the local area with the vid cam in the car to illustrate this - Mike
