what is the difference between these software applications.

8.010 the newest one out
and
8.017 that was on my tomtom XL330, before the update

my up date was backwards I think?

According to TT's web site

8.080 is for these models:

This application version is the minimum requirement for the TomTom XL 330 Series (serial numbers starting with RM, RN, RO or RP) and TomTom ONE 130 Series (serial numbers starting with PN, PO, PP or PQ).

and 8.081 is for these models:
Version 8.081 (TomTom XL 330 Series with serial numbers starting with RM, RN, RO, RP, RV and ONE 130 Series with serial numbers starting with PN, PO, PP, PQ)

So, if indeed your application is 8.010, you may want to give support a call at 866-486-6866 to see what is going on.

Tomtom released multiple versions of applications for the XL330, depending on the month that the device was shipped.

HOME only offers 8.010 or 8.083, depending on your device's internal hardware. Tomtom doesn't publish what's different about the app versions, but our forum members have noticed:
- I you need app 8.014 or later to use a traffic antenna in certain countries
- You need app 8.010 or 8.083 for "Operate my XL" to function. Other versions don't always work
- Map installs will crash on app 8.081 or 8.082 (always upgrade to 8.083 before attempting a map install)

I still don't know what 8.017 was, but 8.010 is the max update for the XL330, per TomTom support for USA.
8.014 must be for EURO, 8.080, 8.081, 8.082,& 8.083 are for "S" series with added features.

XL330, and XL330S use different software. there are a lot of odd models with all different software or feathers, and USA to EURO are different too.

Please help!
I bought a second hand TT GO 500 and I wanted to updated but TT Home it says " invalid version" installed.
I checked the version and it's like this--App 8.413(1237/090427) OS : 311596 Gps v1.20, Boot 5.5022
Map: Westrn_and-Central_eurpe-2 GB, v 825.2157.
I don't have any backup and after I downloaded a new map from inter. it wont recognize the SD Card.It comes up with a red cross
Any idea what to do , please

If you did not get the map from TomTom, then it is counterfeit and there is no place here for discussion about warez sites and software.

If the map was purchased from TomTom then report back.
