I an new to the TomTom GPS. Can anyone tell me how to get a SD card to work. I have formated the card in fat 32 but when I insert in in the slot a screen comes up with a graphic showing the card coming out of the slop and then a "x" goes across the card. What needs to be done to get my cards to work?

I put the SD card in a SD card reader, mounted my tomtom onto the desktop and simply copied all of the files from "tomtom Internal" (on the desktop) to the SD card in the SD card reader. I then took the card from the SD reader and put the sd card back into Tomtom and it worked like a charm for me. (I'm using a mac though, not sure if it will work as as easy with a PC).

I had bought a Lexar SDHC but never formatted it.
Put it in the card slot and it was recognised as a new drive in WE and Home 2.3.

When dealing with TT ONE models (not GO x20 or x30), the system does not consider the internal memory when the SD card is inserted. It is an either internal memory or SD memory for the ONE system. You need to copy all of internal memory onto the SD card to have the same functionality as using only internal memory. IOW, the SD card is not considered an addition to internal memory.

Thanks, that answers my question from another thread

SD Card Question

Can I use an SD Card to add to the internal memory or does it replace it?
Also can I put MP3 files on the SD Card and play them through the TOM TOM? I haven't been able to figure out how to do that?

Thanks for your feedback.

Peggy

look two posts up for your first question.

No, on the 2nd question, unless your version has an mp3 player function.

As the post above states, it replaces it for the lower end models and adds to it for the more expensive models....For the lower end models, you need ALL files (including operating system, maps, POIs, etc) on the SD card

Please look at my webpage. I have a list of 3rd party applications that you can install on your TomTom and some of them allow you to play MP3 files:
>>> TomTom 3rd Party Apps <<<
