I saw the quoted text on another board, and thought I would post my question there as well as here:

Idea The answer may be so simple it's stupid. Tomtom FAQ site says you need to create directories on the SD card with the exact same folder names as they use on the internal memory. The three folder names are "mp3", "photos", and "audiobooks". My SD card (Kingston 2GB) did not allow me to create new folders so I created them on my computer first. I then added all my songs to the "mp3" folder and copied the whole folder over to the SD card. It worked!
Notes: Do all the steps with the SD card plugged directly to your computer (not in the TT720). When the card is ready, switch on the TT720 alone first (off the cradle and without SD card). When it reaches the map screen then insert the SD card and then go to Jukebox.
Try it

Well this worked very well for me. Does anyone know if the word 'photos' is on a config file or something. Most (at least my 2 digi) cameras default their photos to a DCIM directory. Any idea if that change can be made so the TT would be able to recurse to the directory correctly?

Thanks,

Don

sd config question

Bump!

Does anyone have any insight into where the information on the sd card would be? What directory that config file might reside?

Thanks

Can you create a shortcut on the sd card called 'DCIM' that points to the photos directory? I tried going the other way (creating a shortcut called 'photos' that pointed to a directory of pictures, but my TT720 created a photos directory anyway. It would be interesting to see if the camera can write to a shortcut...

Some of the Microsoft gurus might know of a better way to link the directories...

While researching the issue of swapping the SD card from a camera to the TomTom to view the pictures, I found a solution on a German language forum. Someone (Cactus) posted a ZIP file there which adds 2 menu option to the TomTom main menu.

The first menu (mv2photos) option renames the "DCIM" folder on the SD card to "photos" which now makes it possible to view the photos from the TomTom' s Music&Media/Photo Gallery menu choice.

The second menu (mv2dcim) renames the now "photos" folder back to 'DCIM" so that when the SD card is reinserted into the camer, the camera will continue to add pictures to the same place and can "see" the already taken photos.

If you forget to change it back to "DCIM", the camera will create a new 'DCIM" folder and place new pictures there. You will not see the pictures in the "photos" folder on the camera. If you then go back to the TomTom and do the first menu option (mv2photos), nothing will happen as it recognizes that there is already a "photos" folder on the card. You would then have to go to a PC and make the necessary changes (move all to "DCIM" and delete "photos" folder of visa versa).

To install, extract all the ZIP files to the route directory of the TomTom. It will create "mv2dcim.sh" & "mv2photos.sh" in the route directory as well as a folder named "sdkregistry" (if one doesn't exist). It will place "mv2dcim.bmp" & "mv2photos.bmp" (which are the icons on the menus) and "mv2dcim.cap" & "mv2photos.cap" in that folder. Once the TomTom is rebotted the menu items will be there and ready to go.

I offer this information with the best interests at heart. As I said I found it on a German forum site. I do not speak or read German, but through the use of the translate option to the Google search and translate German to English dictionaries, I believe the above info is correct. It does work, because I have it installed and it works as described.

Follow this link to that site (www.meintomtom.de/forum/index.php?act=findpost&pid=115690) and have a look for yourself or Google "dcim2photos" and translate the link to the above site if you can't read German. If I missed anything plase let me know.

The ZIP file to download is:
