Hi

i woul like to copy all the data i have in my gps tomtom 930 to an sd card 16gb, can you please advise which sd card i should buy that will work?

thanks:

Keep in mind to use sd cards over 4GB you need to be using the new 8.3 Navcore....Your going to need 8.3 to use the new maps anyhow.

This navcore has the new bootloader and is able to read and write to the large SD cards.

NOTE : as for " bootloaders " once they are upgraded....they can't be downgraded....this is a good thing....because if you load the navcore 8.3 and don't like it....then you can reinstall your old version of navcore and still retain the new bootloader.

If you don't want to use the new Navcore 8.3 then you will need to use your computer to format and write all files to your SD card larger than 4GB....keep in mind not all PC's can read all types of SD cards....so you may need a card reader for your PC....many cards come with card readers....if not they are dirt cheap.

As for the card....Your 930 can use either the SD or the SDHC cards.

I would suggest buying the card local....so it can be returned if your device has trouble with it.

I use the standard SanDisk SDHC....class 2 and it works very well....other's prefer the faster class 6 cards.

Out of curiosity, have you tried a faster class card? If so, have you noticed a difference on the TT's boot time?

Was reading the thread and wondered if I can use an SD (HC or non-HC) card larger than 4GB in my Go730 without having to work with the Nav 8.?? Not sure what the Nav 8.? is exactly or if it's exclusive to the TT920?
I'm asking because I have a 2GB SD card but I'm considering going to 4+ GB since I've found a few that are on sale. 8 GB for under $35

Yes you can use a larger card in your 730. See Marc's (post #2) above about how to handle it.

I started using an 8gb card in my 720 before they came out with v8.3 all you have to do is remove the card form the TT and use a card reader to read and write to/from the card then put it back in the TT and it'll use it just fine.

I now have 8.3 and don't have to use the card reader anymore.

Navcore is the operating application your TomTom uses....and it's not exclusive.

To see your Navcore version....touch the very bottom....right corner....of your screen....you will now see the version just above the " done " button....if you now touch the version area....it will take you to another screen with even more information about your Navcore and map.
