Yes you can. You will also need all the tt files on the card along with the map and your TT device will boot and run from the SD card. Please see the sticky above 2GB TT1 update I beleive it is titled.
You may notice that you won't have enough room for BOTH the NA map AND the operating system.
Not sure which model of the ONE you have, but Text to speech isn't a functioning feature on many (if not ALL) TomTom ONEs. You could delete the cspeech** files from the maps and never notice any difference. This may get you enough room to install both the operating system files and the NA map.
Just use the TT700 NA map it is only 1768mb 2GB is 2048mb.
I am not sure as I have read here about removing those files and it said to only delete the states you would not be driving in so maybe that file controls all the speech telling you when to turn also. I thing that would make your TT somewhat a waste as I maybe someday have to go to Ca and have that file deleted my TT would not work there . I am not sure just my take on this deleting of the speech file. I have not tried it myself as I cannot afford to download a 2058mb file and delete the files and then not have any directions then maying me buy a 4GB card or paying to DL another smaller version. I think the smaller version is smaller because of the POI's which are not even close in my area as a post office was almost 4 miles down the road from where it said it was
