For other than the x20 models, both operating system files and maps must be on the same media, either internal memory or sd card.

Okay, I get that. But since the internal memory is almost full, how do I get tham all in the same place? Just drag the info from Explorer or such?

You are seeing the maps when you remove the card because you are seeing the one on the INTERNAL memory.

When you plug the card in, you are seeing whatever is there.

You need to copy EVERYTHING from the internal memory to the memory card. Couple ways to do this:
1) Plug the Tomtom in (without the card) and plug the card into a separate reader. The tomtom and the card will appear as 2 different drives on the PC and you can copy everything over

OR

2) If you dont have a separate SD Reader, plug the tomtom in (without the card) and copy everything from the tomtom to a directory on the PC. Plug in the SD card...after the tomtom boots, then copy everything from the directory you created on the PC back to the Tomtom (with the SD card installed)

Got it. What a pain. It was much easier on my old Garmin where you could direct things to be saved to the internal memory or disk.
