GO 5100 World
I have only recently bought the new generation Tomtom Go 510 and I have (more or less) sorted out the method to transfer pois to the satnav.

I have also started the process of becoming familiar with the use of favourites but theses seem to me to be incredibly limited in their use.

I could with my old TTs save a favourite at then later convert it to a poi.

With the 500/510/6000/610 series it seems that all i can do is save a favourite and then use it as a destination etc. It appears that there is no way I can convert this to a poi, using the satnav, nor can I see any way to save my favourites to a computer using My Drive.

Surely the software on the current TTs cannot be that bad!!

You can create an *.ov2 file that contains all of your favorites. We used to recommend this for the old units because favorites would otherwise sometimes be lost during a map update.

Using MyDrive, I recommend creating an entry called " favorites.ov2". Note the space before the 'f' in 'favorites'. That causes it to float to the top of all of the others in sort order.

You can't add them to a POI category on the unit, though. For that, you need to add it to your " favorites.ov2" file and move the result back over to your unit with MyDrive.

I'm obviously missing something (probably a lot more then something!) as I cannot see how to save the TT Favourites to the laptop via MyDrive.

I will investigate further.

I don't think you are missing anything.
I do not think that can be done at this point in time.

You can save favorites from device to hard drive, but the results aren't in a useful format (yet). Once you're on the MyDrive web page at TomTom, SETTINGS (Gear at the bottom) / MYDRIVE SETTINGS / Download your MyDrive data
We expect that some day, TomTom will sort out how to import things from that again, but we've never heard a word on that subject here.

At this time, it's pretty much a one-way process. You will want to store and maintain a master " favorites.ov2" list on your PC, and if you update it at times, reload it to MyDrive to get it over onto your unit.

I have just got around to thinking about this topic again.

When I go to MyDrive and look at my Favourites I see a list with a small amount of detail for each Favourite - but no information re gps coords.

If I click on a Favourite it appears on the map. Right clicking brings up a list of options - but no gps coords.

How can I find the gps coords for a favorite so that I can add the it to my computer in my Favourites.ov2 file?

Use Google Maps to find a location. Once found, click on the icon for What's Here. The lat/long will appear. Then copy them to the device. Gludgy but .....
