Samsung Epix SGH-i907 data

My 930 will pair with my AT&T Samsung Epix touch screen smartphone but tells me that my phone is not capable of data services, speaker phone and phone book only. I cannot find any phone or gps settings I can modify to force the connection. Why will some Windows Mobile 6.1 phones work and some will not? The only service I want is the weather.
