Route Planning

Hi...I see that I can add destinations, I can do in itenerary...but can my TomTom 720 plan the best route for me if I have to visit multiple locations on one trip? I have been searching for hours but this coud be an id10t problem...thanks fin advance for any help you can provide!

Think you are asking whether the TT can plan the route so the stops are in a logical -- or most efficient -- order.

Sorry, TomToms can't do that; higher end Garmins have that functionality.

Guess I am missing something (likely). If I manually enter an itinerary of existing waypoints (created from waypoints in an existing OV2 file), Suzie NEVER deviates from the order of my list.

The OP is looking for a programme that optimises different locations efficiently.
Because of the SDK promlems with NC 8.xxx older ones don't work but someone on the German forum seems to be close to it.
Intended for parcel delivery drivers.

Ah -- so he wants to put in a list, and have the TT do the routing of the entire list, not just best routing for his own sequence. Got it.

So what's this about someone cracking the 8.3 SDK? That'd be good news. Will have to wander over there and see. When it happens, we should all send that German a really good bottle of Sekt! I can also say that if/when this happens, there are a number of other good uses for that software. Don't know if you're familiar with geocaching, but being able to toss in a list of GC waypoints and having the TomTom cover the ground in the least amount of time might be a real winner with that group. Figuring out best routing for urban geocaching can be a real pain.

It was before my time but I understand 3 rd party programmes had problems since the introduction of 8.002.

Don't know if you're familiar with geocaching, but being able to toss in a list of GC waypoints and having the TomTom cover the ground in the least amount of time might be a real winner with that group. Figuring out best routing for urban geocaching can be a real pain.

I think there is a programme that works again (not sure as I don't pay much attention) but they seem to be having problems with the Menu options.
