Route error

Have a new xxl 550 TM. On recent route, it states to take left "toward Buford" (which is a city), but actually it should say "toward Dunwoody." Is there a way to fix this somehow?

What you're seeing is likely what the TomTom believes the wording on the exit sign to be. Often, interstate signs point to some far-flung location to give you a sense of direction as opposed to the nearest town. I'm guessing that this was at one of the two messy I-285 intersections in the area - either at Turner or Peachtree.

There's nothing you can do to change what your unit thinks the signage to be - it is embedded in the map data.

Actually it is 141 South on the merge to Peachtree Industrial. Sign I believe says 141 South Peachtree Industrial - Chamblee/Dunwoody. Buford is not on sign and completely incorrect... I guess we'll have to see if they correct in the future.

From 141 south, Dunwoody would be to the right. A sharp left would be back up Peachtree Industrial back in the general direction of Buford. I can't spot the signage in question anywhere unless it's some new stuff that was added further south just before Jimmy Carter Blvd. I don't see anything back at Holcomb Bridge.

Can you identify where the sign is? The only way of getting it corrected is going to require being pretty specific about where it is.

The signage is just south of holcomb bridge right where the split is - going left up ramp - 141 south to Peachtree Industrial the sign is for Doraville and Chamblee - 141 South. Buford is north of Suwanee - so in totally opposite direction.

Yeah, I can see the right signage now. 141S to the left to Doraville / Chamblee, stay right to get to 140 / Jimmy Carter / Jones Mill Road / P-tree Corners Cir.

I wonder how long that interchange has looked that way. Any chance your TomTom is trying to get you east over to Buford Hwy, vs. Buford the town? Yeah - I know, you'd now need to stay right to hit Jimmy Carter to do that to get off 141. Wonder how the signage used to read there... How long have you been driving that area, and were there any major alignment/intersection changes in the last couple of years?

I've lived in ATL for 22 years and 16 of which I've driven down 141. So I think that signage has been there for sometime. No the TomTom shows "Buford" up top of screen in green - vs - blue for road indicating "toward Buford." Evidently something messed up...

Well pinpointed, now easy to report. I'll dump a correction here -> Map Insight and if you do the same, that will make two. It's actually easier to report this kind of thing directly on Teleatlas than it is on the TomTom.

I zoomed up to the split in the road and dropped a push pin on the left side just before the split. Then "Street or map feature", "Rename a street or map feature", "Route number" (stay with me on that one, it's the right one).

Then under "Current name/number" I placed "See Comment", and under "Correct name" I placed "See Comment". For the comment, I added "Map incorrectly believes signage for left lane points to Buford. Signage points correctly to Doraville / Chamblee".

It's the best you can do... then keep your fingers crossed that someone has been tasked with physical inspection in that area sometime soon.
