I have just put a replacement battery in my GO 720 but it doesn't appear to be getting charged as it immediately turns off when removed from a power source. Exactly the same thing happened with the battery that I removed (original) although that did seem to remain on briefly.
Is there something else that could be the problem? I have since bought a new "6 GO 620
but still want to use the old device in another vehicle as it works perfectly well apart from the battery not holding a charge. The on screen indicator shows that it is charging.

What are you using to charge the 720, a mains charger? And for how long? Does it remain in operation while connected to the car outlet? Are you using the cable that came with the device and the mounting device? Try charging it directly in the device without the mounting device.

Using the mounting device connected to computer. I have not used a mains charger, never had or knew that I needed one.Yes, it does remain in operation while connected to the car outlet.I am using the Tom Tom cradle (mounting unit) and cable which was supplied with the unit and connects via USB to the desktop computer and has been connected for many hours several times. I shall try charging it without the mounting device. Thanks for your help will let you know if I have any luck
