I have the remote control for the TT 720. Sometimes it works fine and at other times it will not connect. Any ideas as to the problem? Everything appears to be set correctly. This past weekend I started a trip and used the remote. Later in the day, when I tried to use it again, it would not connect. Nothing had been changed and both units were never out of the car. When working correctly, you hit a button on the remote, the blue light flashes as it tries to connect and then lights solid and the TT unit says remote connected. When it won't connect, the blue light comes on steady immediately, never flashes and no connection is made.

I got the same luck with my 930 but then, I think the actual remotes are identical.

Mine eats batteries for lunch. It comes on flashing and doesn't stop but doesn't work event though the announcement says it does and so doe the text in the top right corner.

I went ant got rechargeable AAAs and when not in use resorted to open the remote and pop up the batteries.

If you are having a battery issue, call/contact TomTom Support - was well worth the time - got a new remote, much better on battery life!

My old one was Grey/Black, the new one is all Black - I think they found something with them...

Well although I don't use it much, my unit is over a year and a half old and after just getting a suction holder replacement free I don't think they'll give me a remote control.
Mine is the black one and I remember a thread on expansys, the first forum I found about four weeks before I bought my 930, mocking theat the only difference between the 920 and the 930 were the colour of the bezel of the device and the face plate of the remote.
Cheers,

Tried to use it today but it wouldn't come on. No blue light.
Back at home I tested the batteries. One 1.2 V (full), the second 0.01V.

Until I bought the rechargeable ones I used to get Sunbeams from the Dollar store.
Testing them then I used to get 1.5V and 0.3V - 0.5V and thought well, at four for a dollar one must expect some under par goods.

After recharging I will monitor the progress and see if a pattern develops with the left one (facing the opened back) going flat.
I will revert.

I don't have a remote, but it could be suffering from this bug that affects bluetooth phone connections.

Thanks, but mine displays none oth those symptoms.
I cannot speak for the FM transmission as there is a broadcast on every frequency here and I was never able to use the transmitter, even before the Navcore change that had disabled it.

At this time the odd Bluetooth behaviour is that after switching off the 930, the remote starts blinking for several minutes.

I did have an odd instance today. After reaching a destination I used the TomTom to call a colleague., then switched it off. Three hours later, after powering up I got the usual "Connected to SCH-u510*". When trying to call my wife I got the "This feature is not supported".
Sitting at the desk and trying to see it it was the typical failure to pair, I found that my phone had turned to "Off" in the "Always visible mode". Changing that to "Visible", even though there came no sound from the device, I was now able to use the phone book and make a call.

My Samsung CDMA phone.

My 720 does the same thing on occasion.
No pattern to it, the remote just stops working.

I have discovered that doing a reset fixes the problem everytime.

A PITA but I do love my remote:)
