Regional Maps - are they worth it?

I have a TT One, with the standard USA/Canada map. I am trying to figure out what exactly I get for the money in upgrading to the detailed maps. I am looking at either the Western US, or entire US map. Can someone explain what I get for the bucks? The TT site sure doesn't do a very good sales pitch.

Don't waste your money. The maps you have contain the same road info. The detail on the other maps is just stuff like bodies of water. But the routing will be the same.
