Now that I have the latest map installed along with all the other updates, I decided to look through the file structure of the internal 2GB memory. I see a few files in the root, and other places, that look like filename dataxxxx.chk. These are shown as file type "Recovered File Fragments".

Question: Can I safely remove these without affecting the operation of the unit?

There are only about 10 or so that I have found and the filesize ranges from a few KB to about 5 MB.

Question: Do these files indicate a problem with the unit or file structure or were they most likely generated by improper shutdown?

Do NOT remove those files or your unit will not function!

You see, in the Windows world, files with an extension of .chk are associated with 'recovered file fragments' but TT is written on a linux base and, as such, the extension .chk means a completely different thing.

Leave them alone.............

You are welcome. You DO have an Explorer backup of your unit's contents, right? (if not, why not?) It's for times like these that you want that backup handy.

I was going to do the Explorer backup after I cleaned up those recovered file fragments. :) Now that I don't have to do that I will do my second backup now. I kept the original backup and will now also keep the newly updated backup.

Thanks again !!
