Hi Folks,

Just recieved my recon Go930, and unpacked it. Seems to power on ok, but it thinks I'm touching the screen when I'm not so it makes it near impossibile to use it. I've tried a software update, but that doesn't seem to have fixed it :(

Does anyone have a fix for this or is it a return to Tomtom job?

Thanks in advance

Kev

Doh - just noticed that I posted it to the wrong forum :(

Welcome to the forum, get a thin piece of card such as a business card and insert the corner of the card between the screen and the bezzel, there is a gap, run the card around the whole screen the idea is to dig out any debris that has fallen in the gap, this often fixes the issue you describe - Mike

Thanks Mike

I tried that and it seems to solve it for a short time, but then it comes back again - seems to be down in the lower right of the screen as it keep diving into the menu then scrolling by the using the arrow

I'll try it again though just to make sure

I move the thread to the 930 forum but, in truth, the experience you are having could apply to any model and, as Mike points out, is often due to a bit of dirt. Just take your time with the cardboard as you work around the bezel.

Thanks dhn, shame it was like it out of the box, my original 'one' has been faultless in the years that I've had it, but wanted to get a bit of an upgrade :)

If the business card trick doesn't work, you could warranty swap it. New Tomtoms have a 1 year warranty, and refurbished ones have a 6 month warranty (might differ a bit by country). Call up Tomtom support and they'll help you out.

Thanks All,

I managed to fix it with a business card - there was a foam spacer out of position so managed to nudge it back into place which seems to have resolved it. The next problem would appear to be the shocking battery life, but I hope this will improve!
