I received a TomTom GO 720 for Christmas and, so far, I love it. As a TomTom newbie, I have a question about the RDS-TMC receiver.

How accurate/consistent has it been for other users? I am specifically looking for traffic information in the Rochester, NY area. I am trying to determine how accurate and viable it is before I make the $130 investment. Any help would be very much appreicated.

Yes I am wondering the same information!! I'm also interested in it but unsure if its worth it for the NY tri-state area.

I have had the RDS-TMC receiver for a few months now on a Go910...

I have not found it to be very accurate and coverage in the Central Jersey area is not the best...North Jersey and NY coverage seems to be OK.

I find the delays posted to be EXTREMELY inaccurate (although this may be a technical issue w/ the 910 firmware) and traffic accuracy to be spotty at best...

I thought traffic was more accurate when I was using my cell phone's bluetooth connection and the internet...I assume the traffic is from different sources...

That is what I was afraid of. The $130 investment seemed a little steep withouth knowing how good the information was. If you have ever listened to the traffic reports on the radio in Rochester, you know how pathetic they are so I had a hard time believing that this was any better. I think I'll save my money for now. Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately work provides my cell phone and they have no data coverage services...

I have been working w/ TT Support to see why the delays were so inaccurate...they believe my RDS antenna is bad - and they are having me RMA the antenna...I will let you know when I receive the new one shortly...
