Ram on 550 XXL

in every XXL I think I have examined..I believe it has reported 64 mb of ram (with so much free.). Today, I had one acting up which froze up when the maps booted. It only shows 32 mb ram. Did some 550 XXL's ship with 32, or do I probably have a ram failure. I ran clear flash three times. No change.
