I have a TomTom 1 XL. there is 1 feature that I do not like and that is the auto zoom. I zoom the map out to see where I am on the highway and then after a few seconds it zooms back in. It seems that I can never see more than a couple of hundred yards in front of the vehicle. It is terrible for planinng out your turns and antisipating intersections while driving, expercially when you do not have a destination programed into the GPS.

How do I turn of the Auto Zoom?

Second question How can transfer my waypoints from my Garmin 276 into my TomTom, and is there an easy way to enter waypoints into the GPS?

Third Question

How can I increase the map detail. It seems that this GPS shines in the city but not in the rural settings

4th question

how can I make this GPS automaticly change from night to day colors depending on time of day

Just a note here.

This GPS was a gift from one of my employees. I normaly use a Garmin 276 chartplotter for my GPS needs. This TomTom one XL I have played with for several months to see if I can make it do what I need it to. So far I am very disapointed in this product and so it has been resting in the bottom of my junk drawer. I just reserected it today and did all the new updates on it, and found that it is still the same.

Help me before it goes back in the junk drawer.

To convert pois from one format to another go here

Some models have preference to turn off auto zoom, others do not. Also, some models have prerence to switch to night colurs automatically. If you don't see those choices, either your model doesn't have them or, perhaps, you have the selection to show fewer menus.

As to better map detail? What version do you have? (tap the satellite bars to see the application version. Tap the version number to see the map installed and the version).
