Question on updating map.

Hey guys I need some help updating my map. When on the storage card I do not see any updates for my gps. But when on the int. memory and I click over to new maps the 8.1 is there. Can i not put the map on my 4gb disk? I've never upgraded the map before so its all new to me. Thanks!

For a 720, the map should be able to reside on the card. Is it a sdhc card? Can you see the contents of the card using Explorer? When the map folder is on the card, remember in Home to Switch devices to External prior to trying to update.

I think i found out my problem. For some reason everything is spread between the internal and the sd memory card. Neither one will let me update now. If I take the card out i get a red circle with an x. With the card in it works fine. But in tomtom home it keeps telling me to unplug and restart the device. Should i try restoring with the card out and start over?

It sounds as if you have both the operating system and map on the card. The operating system consists of all the loose files in the root of the unit (or on the card).

If that is the case, use Explorer and move all the loose files on the sd card (those not in a folder) to the root of the unit.
