Qs re map releases by TT

Do we think that with the acquisition of Tele Atlas by TomTom will result in better maps for our TomTom units...especially in North Americal?

I have had my GO730 TT for just this summer. And the map edition I see on my unit currently is v805.1801. When was this version first released?

I understand that TT usually releases map updates...quarterly? Does one get an email from TT informing one of the release? What is the pricing of these updates

No way to know how owning Tele Atlas will affect things. It may open up more PDA options, as many PDA companies are building in GPS capability, and TomTom/Tele Atlas risks getting left behind if it they do not participate.

Your NA map I believe is the latest. You should have already set up TT Home (plus backed everything up), and if so you can connect to it and check for map updates anytime. You can also go the the TT webpage and look there. They are currently charging $99 US for your map, and new map updates prices vary with coverage.

If you register your unit on the TomTom webpage and accept the monthly newsletter email form them, it will indicate when new maps are out (and when they are on sale).

I have setup TT HOME and backed up everything using Windows Explorer. But I had heard that TT Home and the Map update section wasnt reliable.
