problem with XL 330s

just got the new XL 330s today. But I'm noticing a couple of annoying problems. one major. When I choose the computer voice (for tts)(I think the voice is Samantha) tomtom takes absolutely forever to do anything...then when it finally get to the map screen it skips along the path, with intermittent freezing. anyone else have a problem with this or know how I can fix it? I've updated it completely.

Another problem is that the map goes gray once in a while. any ideas?

Hoping this is normal, I bought this online, so I'd hate to do a return.

I suspect you have the option to show a lot of POIs and this slows down the processor as it needs to check if any POI is within your range. As for me, I only get it to show radar speed traps and turn on other POI only when needed and never have any problem.

I should have thought of that-There were dozens of POI's on the screen! Much better, thanks.

Do you know if there are any other computer voices I can download? been searching, but coming up empty. Mine only has this one installed, and it pretty much sucks. although it's much more useful than the recorded voices.

Use HOMe and go to 'add maps, voices etc'
go to the 3rd page I believe and select 'computer voices'
You can add them there.

I don't see an option for "computer voices." I searched throughout the Voices. I even did a text search for computer voices and tts, and text-to-speech... got nothing. the categories are "rated, downloads, default, date" and the languages mention nothing about tts or computer voices, and I went through most of the relevant ones regardless. even searched through the voices online... can't find any. i'm pretty sure it's supposed to come with at least 2... mine came with just Samantha.

Been there before... There are 2 main voice categories. When in Home, go to the option to add maps etc which leads you to a first screen but you need to get to the third screen selection with the right arrow to get the option to add ?computer voices? which is a category by itself. There you will find a few choices like ?Susan? a US American English female computer voice and others as well.

Computer voices are rather large and you may need to delete whatever computer voice you already have installed before you can install the new one. Always make a good backup of your whole system before deleting anything so you can restore your system if something wrong would happen.

awesome...thanks, I guess that's what he meant by page 3. It's kind of weird though, The only voices available for me are Samantha (already installed) and Tom. The other few are non-english. Maybe those others you mentioned are only for higher models.

In terms of why the map goes grey ....

That is an indication that the satellite signal is lost.
