hi not certain if this is the correct section

i have a tomtom europe xl

i went to update it using the home becuase it seemed the tom tom had crashed no idea why so thought the home would redo it

it backed it up and said all i needed was a gps fix do uploaded that

the tom tom did nothing still in it;s scrashed state so i put in the backup and still the same

so i tried to stick in folders one at a time to see if i could clear the issue the tom tom started to update new applications and started to look good i put the western map folder in and the file called mds western

but when it startes it's asking me to select a map but there are non present on the screen of the top tom to select

is there away of starting over again i think one of the files is currupt soemhow and it's casuing issues with the old backup

how do i start a fresh and get my tomtom working again

also i am having to use my sd card to work the tomtom no idea why the hardrive is not accessable its saying on my pc when i try to explor the hardrive that it's a removable driver and will not open

thankyou

backup in

hi ok

i've managed to puty all the backup one in now the only thing that seems wrong is the maps part

when it startes it asking for a map but theres nothing in the list to select

i've checked the maps folder with the home application and thr western maps is present but will not show up in the tom tom

any idea what i need to do now i've also tried the reboot on the tom tom and still the same result

also no sound form the voices when chosen it seemt o ask for all of this fro m the setting settings then goes straight to the maps part

Did you use latest map guarantee when you first got the tomtom? Or did you every purchase a map?

If so, the map should be on your computer. Use windows explorer to move the map from the tomtom to a backup folder on your computer. (so that there's no map folder on the tomtom).

Then in home, go to "add traffic, voices...", then keep clicking the arrow until "items on my computer" appears. Click there, and then see if you have a downloaded map that you can add.
