Power-on: 2535M Live?

Power-on: 2535M Live? Yes, the option is in there now to power on w/ ignition!

If I leave a GO 2535M Live plugged into my switched 12V DC outlet, will it automatically power on when I turn the car on and off when I turn the car off?

It does not have power on functionality. No TomTom models do.

Bummer. There's no way to enable this? Do these TomTom units use open-source operating systems?

They do not. The user has no access to the file system on these models.

Interesting. Got a 2535M Live and IT DOES power on w/ ignition. In fact, it's a user configurable option in the same menu where you can choose to keep it on after power is removed.

Yes, I can confirm that the feature was added with a firmware update. It made at least one user (me) VERY happy !

p.s. do NOT remove it in future firmware updates...

One caveat in regard to the power ON and power OFF capability when your vehicle's engine is started or shut down - even on TomTom models that support this feature, its availability will depend upon whether or not your vehicle has switched power to the cigarette lighter outlet(s).

Many older vehicles do not have this - for example my Ford and my wife's Lincoln have power to the lighter outlet at all times, regardless of whether or not the engine is running. On those cars the newer TomTom units will turn on as soon as they are plugged in, and will remain on while plugged in.

Many (but not all) newer cars, such as my son's Toyota Scion, have power to the lighter outlet connected to the ignition switch, and would turn on the TomTom only when the engine is running.
