Having not used my GO 510 for about a month, i turned it on today to find it was indicating that i should remove the SD card. I did this and then it would tell me to fit the SD card, which i did and then it would tell me to remove it again, and so on etc. (this only seems to happen if its on battery power, if it is charging it shows a large red cross with a flashing blue SD card in bottom left hand corner)

I then tried to connect to TomTom HOME but my PC would not recognise it. So i cant even communcate with my PC to try and rectify the problem.

I have reset the unit via the small button at the rear of the unit but no joy.

Any Ideas anyone ?

Put the card in to a card reader connected to your PC and see if you can view the folders and files on the card, is there anything on the card when you look at it using Windows Explorer? - Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for your help.
i have just put my SD card into the reader on my PC but nothing has registrered in 'my computer'.
I have tried to find the card in windows explorer but cannot see it anywhere. excuse my ignorance but what Should i be looking for?

A Go-510 can only use SD cards not the larger SDHC, if you know th edrive letter associated with your memory card reader simply click it to open the drive and display the contents, if there is nothing on the card I hope you have a back up or recovering the device to a working machine is going to probably cost the purchase price of a new map - Mike

Make sure the write protect slider did not get moved. I believe it needs to be off for the 510 to work with it (although you card reader should be able to read it.

If you have a backup, get a new SD card and copy/paste it there (if you have a windows backup file). otherwise, use the TT Home restore mode.

Note - even with a bad card, the deice should have been found by your computer. Try it with a new card also. if it recognizes it, if you pull up TT Home, it will want to install the latest OS. If you had updated a map in the last year, it should then offer to download and install it also.

Good luck
