I haven't tried any mp3's yet, but i am wondering if you can play the audio file while using the navigation function of the 720. Any help would be appreciated.

It is possible to play mp3 while using navigation.
In Change Preferences->Music Preferences (Page 6), select the option 'Automatically Switch to Driving view'.
After copying mp3 files to the 'mp3' folder in TT internal memory, go to TomTom Juke Box in Music and Media and select the song. As soon as the song starts playing, the view would switch to Navigation. If you have a SD card create a folder 'mp3', all lower case without the quotes and place all your mp3 files in there.
I have added TomTom Jukebox to the 'Quick Menu Preferences' (Change Preference->Quick Menu Preferences - page 4) so that I can access it directly from the Navigation screen easily (by clicking on the quick menu arrow that comes to the left side middle of the screen, once enabled), rather than having to scroll to the JukeBox each time.
TT would automatically pause the mp3 when it has to give navigation voice directions.

Some other settings related to playing MP3's is what output do you want to use for your songs.

Change Preferences > Speaker Preferences (screen 6)

You will get the following 2 settings:

Play Instructions use this speaker:
  • Internal speaker
  • Bluetooth Hi-Fi device
  • Line-out (audio cable)
  • FM to your car radio

Play music using this speaker:
  • Play Instructions use this speaker:
  • Internal speaker
  • Bluetooth Hi-Fi device
  • Line-out (audio cable)
  • FM to your car radio

Depending on what vehicle you have, your FM reception will vary. If your radio antenna is on the front (which makes it closer to your TT) you will get better reception than if your antenna is in the back.

I have set both to "FM to your car radio" and the music plays through my truck speakers, but then the music is paused for "Left turn ahead" or other instruction.
