planning a route on One 3rd Edition

Hi all, newbie here

I'm having a very strange issue with my tomtom 3rd ed. I've just downloaded the map for France for a trip in a couple of weeks. When I go to "Prepare route" it doesn't offer me the option of using the France map.

According to HOME the map is installed on my device and I can see what look like all the same kind of files in the France folder as I do in the UK folder on the device when browsing through windows explorer. So on the face of it at least it seems the map is there an unpacked.

Am I being a bit dim here? I assumed I could sit at home in the UK and plan a route from Liverpool to my destination in france. However when I select the map ion option on the "Destination" bit of the planning process it only shows the UK and Ireland.

So - should I be able to do what I want or am I missing something? The device and home are both fully updated although I did have to move some stuff to the pc when I installed the map as I ran out of space and there is no sd slot (hmmm....helpful that eh?)

Any clues anyone? I have tried searching teh forum but haven't found any solutions yet.

You should have a preference to Manage Maps-->Switch maps and select France.

If your model doesn't have that and you ONLY have France on your unit, then first just do a Navigate to, address, and switch the country flag to France.

Thank you for the reply DHN - i'll have a look for the manage maps thing later..although I have to say I don't remember seeing it - and i'm fairly sure i ended up pressing everything in the end in some kind of blind desperation!

However - as for the suggestion to switch the country flag to France; it just doesn't show up at all. The only options I have are UK and Ireland. I note that you said if I "ONLY" had France on there...surely I don't have to remove the UK map to use the France one?

I'm assuming (perhaps naively) that I should be able to plan the fastest route from my house in liverpool to the place i'm staying in France all in one go. Is that actually possible? Failing that I'd be ok with the idea of planning the route to the Eurotunnel and then planning the rest of my route once I get to Calais....but I would at least like to see the France map before I get there!

Unfortunately, you cannot plan one trip from your home using the UK map to a destination in a second map (in this case, France). What you suggested at the end of your post will have to do..........

If you use Home to Manage my Device-->Items on Device-->Maps and only see the UK map listed there, then something is wrong.

Many thanks DHN...you've answered all my queries, I found the France map and have now prepared the route so i'm a happy man again.
