Plan route for future use despite temp road closures

Trying to plan routes on plan.tomtom.com for future use where the road is currently closed due to flooding, but will be open when I wish to travel. It will not allow me to plan that route regardless of a future departure date. Is there any way to force a route despite temporary road closures?

You can plan it, you just won't ever see today a precise result for the future.

If you use just the regular routing engine at plan.tomtom.com, when the time comes to execute it, your device will choose the best method for achieving each successive point of the route *in the moment*, including road closure and traffic conditions. You just can't see the exact route that will be chosen in the future on the planner or device now. Neither even knows what the traffic will look like then.

Thanks for the reply, but that does not seem to be the case. It insists I remove the waypoint I have added to plot the route along my chosen path when it strikes a road closure. It simply will not plan the route. I am trying to plot a particular course, not just go from start to finish by any route the GPS thinks best.

If you plan your route on Plan-TomTom, you should be able to view it and save it for future use.

Although this seems normal, if you try to open it on your GPS, it refuses to open it because a road is currently closed due to flooding.

I thought we were just dealing with getting around the closure, not dealing with something within it.

If there is presently no work-around (no alternate route possible at all), then what you say would be true. And of course, you cannot add a point inside a current road closure.

Normally, that is not the case - there is some kind of detour possible, however peculiar - and the major detour you would see now would be replaced by the straighter path later when the route was actually executed without the blockage.

I understand Trev's problem. It is not only roads closed due to flooding or roadworks, but the impossible task of trying to plan a Summer road trip through the French, Austrian or Swiss Alps in the European winter. It is an exercise in frustration.
