phonebook problems

I initially downloaded the phone book from my mobile phone with no problems. When I downloaded my telephone numbers a few months later (to up date number changes) the numbers downloaded but the name didn't. I have tried resetting, deleting and downloading but I cannot get the names with the tele numbers as I had originally.

Can anyone help?

Do you have a backup of the device from sometime when the phonebook actually worked? if so locate the Contacts folder and the contacts.txt file within it, copy this back to the contacts folder on the device using Windows Explorer.

If you don't have a backup containing this information you can open the contacts folder on the device using Windows Explorer, then open the contacts.txt folder using NotePad on the phone and edit the contents to add the user names, save the file and it will be working again - Mike

I know that its not easy but you can open the contact file with wordpad. You can now enter any telephone number yourself just making sure you follow the adjacent nembers and symbols. You can add them to the top of the contact list. When you open your tom tom address book in tom tom you will see all these added contacts in alphobedical order. I did this and it works well. Just a thought
