I have both Garmin and TomTom, so it's interesting to see the two different approaches on security.
With the Garmin, if you have security enabled, it won't allow the PC to see the Garmin folders until you've entered the PIN #. TomTom apparently just applies the pin # to the use of the GPS, and not to the data.
The Garmin way is the correct way (just like how my Palm device works with a PIN #). Interesting how TomTom's security is a bit more haphazard.
PS: I thought I'd add that due to security concerns, I never use my real home address (in the Garmin or TomTom) as the "home" address on the GPS units. This is to prevent GPS thieves from finding where you live and ransacking your place while you're out. I use a place like a church, McDonald's, etc. close by as the home address. Just something that I think every GPS owner should do.
