I have questions!...

My new sd card (4GB Topram) should be here this week, my question is when I copy all the info from the xl's memory and copy it to the new sd card should the on-board memory be erased or simply left intact, so basically if i pull the sd card out it will run from the xl's internal map and if I put the card in it will run from the sc card is this correct or should it be done another way? and help or comments would be appreciated.

i just put everything on my 2 gig card yesterday. i left everything the same as it was on the internal memory. seems like this would be a good idea in case something happens to your external for whatever 1 in a million problem, and then you can pop it out and still have a working gps.

Absolutely and totally agreed! makes perfect sense. Did you do it the way I explained copy and paste?

BTW if anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to add on always looking for input from the more experienced people!

yeah i just copied everything from the XL onto a temp folder on the computer ad then copied that to the SD. i would have copied it directly but i find that it often goes faster in steps, and i didn't want something to happen in the middle and be screwed.
