One V3 problems!

Hi, I've had my tomtom one V3 (UK) for a couple of months now, over which i've used it maybe 5 times. All has been great until yesterday when I noticed a few changes. Firstly, when i entered the postcode of the destination the two suggested destinations came up as usual, but when i went to select my desired choice, the destination would flicker, as if it had been pressed, but the selection would not be made. Only after pressing it 5 or 6 times would the destination finally be set. Then, during my journey the real problem started, where the screen would randomly flick through menus without me touching the tomtom., usually ending up somewhere on the roadbloack screen  Also the destination was all messed up thereafter giving me random directions it would seem.

I've since tried the device again today and the same problem happened. I have no idea what's going on as before this the device has worked great. I update the tomtom roughly twice a week with the gpsfix and mapshare. If anyone has any idea why this is happening i'd be especially greatful to hear from you!

Thanks a lot :)

What you are experiencing is often caused by a bit of dirt that has gotten under the bezel of the unit. If you use a sharp thin piece of cardboard (like that from a business card) and carefully slide it around the entire perimeter of the unit between the bezel and the glass, it sometimes helps.

Also, it's been known that if a screen protector is in use, over time it shrinks slighly, causing pressure on the glass, as if finger taps (thanks to mikealder for that info).

So, check that out...........

Thanks for such a speedy response!

I had a screen protector fitted, so i removed that and now the problem with selecting the destination seems to have gone away. I'll try it out properly with a journey later today, and will let you know how i get on. Thanks :)

After taking it out ona test run everything seems back to normal. Though it'll take a longer journey to completely satisfy me ;)

It's surprising how such a thin protector caused such a problem!

Thank you for the help, it's much appreciated! :D
