TomTom Model(s)
One New Edition
Hi, Yesterday I upgraded Home to v2.9, now the 2GB SD card is blank. In home it says device not connected. Originally I had a problem when I wanted to upgrade the map from Europe to Western Europe, so I bought this 2GB SD card because the old original card wasnt big enough, it all worked well until yesterday. Now I am using the old card for the time being. My question is could it be that v2.9 wont read the 2GB SD card? and how do I get my updated Western Europe map back as Ive purchased this and have one last update out of the four. Also I received an e mail saying that my update for Western Europe is available for download but when I try it it says

You have clicked an 'Add to TomTom' button. Unfortunately, TomTom HOME cannot add the item to your TomTom device because there is something wrong with the button.

Please report this error to the webmaster of the website

Thanks in advance, any help would be apreciated

I think with that model that everything must be on the card, not just the map, but the application as well.

That is correct. It has no internal memory. The OP will need to get the application loaded onto it as well, not just the map.

Firstly, have you ever made any backups, of either the old card or the new?

If not, do one now (of the working card) as a matter of urgency using Windows Explorer NOT "Home" (See our "Articles" section for instructions).

Next, how do you know the new card 2GB is blank? Have you looked at it's contents in Windows Explorer? If it's not actually empty, make a backup of that card too.

Now, I don't see how JUST updating to Home 2.9 can possibly deleted everything off the new card, so what else did you do or update?
The TT itself should read a 2GB card no problem.

If you look on your PC in :
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\map (if Windows XP) or
C:\Users\username\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\map (if Windows 7/VISTA)
...can you see your downloaded map updates?

If you can answer all of those questions, we'll be in a better shape to get everything back in the right places.

Hi thanks for your replies. As if by magic my western europe map has reappeared. I think it came back when I logged in to the Tom Tom site with home open simultaneously. But in Home with my Tom Tom connected the 2GB SD card doesnt work, it says no device connected. Even if the card is blank shouldnt it still say One New Edition?

So are you saying that:

1. The TomTom itself now works OK with the new 2GB card and new map?

2. But with the new card inserted in the TomTom and the TomTom connected to the PC, the on-screen emulator in Home doesn't work?

3. If it says "No device connected" then presumably NOTHING works in Home? (such as "Update" or "Manage my device")

4. But #2+3 do work with the old card installed in the TomTom?

Hi its always worked with the original Europe SD card. Found that the 2GB card although still had data on it , it had lost its format, so had to re format it to the original FAT 32 which also meant that it deleted all data on it. Re installed back up from home. all good now thanks.
