TomTom Model(s)
Go Premium X
Good afternoon to you all, I hope you are well.
I will get straight into my issue.
I have a Go Premium X which has been working perfectly for ages. The other day I noticed I was not getting the traffic updates as it should.
My subscription is still active.
While tying to sort out the problem I have discovered I can't login to my satnav as I have forgotten my password. I requested a new password which should have been sent to the email address associated with the TomTom account.
However, that email address is no longer active. How can I get a new password if I can't pick up the email?
Any thought would be gratefully received.
Many thanks.
Red.

As for the login/password issue:

Perform a "Factory Reset" on your device, and it will 'forget' your previous email address / account.
You may then re-create your login information on the device with whatever email and password you prefer. If you intend on using the online planner ( https://plan.tomtom.com/en/ ) you will need to use the same email and password there.

Unclear what you mean by "traffic updates". Do you see any indications of traffic at all on your device's main map screen?

Hi

Go Premium X that has been working perfectly for ages? GO premium is not that old?

Create a new Tomtom account with a new email address and password.

No traffic It could also be that your SIM card is deactivated?

Many thanks for the quick reply.
By Traffic Updates I mean live data showing heavy traffic or roadworks or mobile speed cameras. I have also lost the ability to report new speed cameras.
I thought if I do a Factory Reset the satnav would still, somehow, know my email and password for when I download all my saved locations from MyDrive. Is that not the case?
If it is as simple as a Factory Reset I will just try that.
Once again, thanks for your input.

I have a new email address and password for MyDrive but how do I tell my satnav to accept them as I can't login to it to update any details?
Cheers.

This is a new Tomtom account that you must create, then connect to Mydrive with the same credentials of the GO premium account.

Yes, you can do a factory reset before creating a new account. Be careful, if you have forgotten your password, you will not be able to find your favorites.

I am not too concerned about retrieving my saved locations. I was just under the impression that the Factory Reset wouldn't clear the existing account. If it will clear the account, I will do it and start from scratch.
Thanks for your help.
Take care.

Yes, in fact that's the only way you can 'erase' an email address that's already be entered into the device.

Good morning.
Thanks for your help guys.
I will do a reset and let you know how I get on.
Cheers.

OK.
I saw that option while I was trying to get to the bottom of the issue but I didn't pursue it as I thought the account would still be active.
It makes sense that all my details and history would be deleted now I have had a chance to think about it.
Hopefully I will get it all sorted sometime this week.
Many thanks for your advice.

Resetting the device to factory settings erases all your personal information, so you need to re-enter your email address + password.
Then you need to set up the GPS, connect it to your Mydrive account with the same login ID to reinstall your favorites and routes.

Good afternoon Guys.
Good news... my satnav now has a different email address and password all set up.
I did the Factory Reset as was suggested.
I have logged onto MyDrive and got the account all set up.
Many thanks for all the help.
The problem with the Live Traffic Updates (traffic jams, roadworks and mobile speed cameras) still isn't working as well as it should. It keeps dropping out.
I have removed the SIM and given it a clean so I will see if that makes any difference.
Once again, thanks for all the advice.
Cheers.

Good evening.
I don't think the SIM has been deactivated as it works sometimes.
I have used the satnav today since I cleaned the SIM and it worked perfectly for my trip of almost 1 hour.
Before I cleaned it I was lucky if it worked for more than 10 minutes.
Fingers crossed it will be OK from now on.
Many thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
Take care.

Ref Simcard...
I had same issue, the 3rd party that supplied the Traffic updates has ceased supporting TomTom via its 2g/3g service.....TomTom told me this !!!
All traffic is now done via your smartphone...
You nwed the Mydrive connect app to link it to your fone

The "3rd party" (Vodaphone / Vodafon) has no idea what the data is that's being moved to the TomTom. They don't supply the traffic data - they're just a pass through for traffic data just like any other kind of data. It's TomTom that supplies "Traffic updates", and it's the cellular provider that makes the connection (in this case, 2G, since that's what the TomTom devices can support) to deliver it.

Net: TomTom has their own traffic servers, and the cellular provider doesn't really care what the data is as long as someone pays the bill every month (which IS the issue while 2G remains working).

Good morning Paul.
Thanks for your input.
I have a friend that currently has a Go5200 which has, recently, become unsupported via it's inbuilt SIM. He has started to link it with his phone and it now works fine again. He was notified by Tomtom about a month before the SIM became unsupported.
My Go Premium X is still supported by Tomtom and since I cleaned the SIM it has been working fine. I have tested it every day since I cleaned it and had no problems with the live traffic updates.
Once again, thank you all for your help.
Regards.
