Off Route/Recalculating?

Is there any way to have the 340S tell me that I'm off route? Sometimes there are close turns and I don't know that I missed it and it takes a while to recalculate and then announce the new route. I'd like to know to slow down to give it a chance.. I see a posting from almost two years ago.. I'm wondering if anything new is available now...

A tomtom does not verbalize 'recalculating' like a Garmin does.

However, TomToms are pretty good at doing quick recalcs and therefore catching up to where you actually are.
