Hi all,

Glad I found your forum (noob poster)!

I've had my 910 for about a year now and I have several questions that perhaps someone can help me with.

1) Has anyone had any issues with their 910 coming on in night mode during the day and/or not switching to night mode at night?

My 910 seems to have its days and nights confused sometimes...

I travel a bit (4000 to 5000 miles a month) about 1/2 on the interstate where tomtom behaves himself, but the other half is on rural roads where he seems to get lost quite a bit. Tommy thinks I'm driving through a cow pasture or cotton field.

2) What is the best way to mark these errors to be able to report them?

Since I travel the back roads quite a bit I know several shorcuts (for example to get to Tallahassee from my home, Tommy wants to take me north to the interstate then East on I-10. But if I go HW 20 it cuts 30 mini. of the drive time).

3) Is there a way to "teach" tommy the short cuts?

Finally, for a back up I always print out a Google map of my route. Most of the time the google map is more up to date, and the route is shorter and faster. I've noticed that from Google maps I can now upload POI's to tommy.

4) Is there a way to upload entire routes from Google maps to TT?

Thanks for your time!

Tony

Hi and welcome.

Since I'm from Europe and never experience such problems even when driving through the back mountain roads of SwitzerlandI could only be of help to some of your questions.

Q1. Most probably something is blocking the light sensor otherwise, if your unit is running OS7.16x, there is the option Change preferences - Docking preferences. Here the brightness, nightview switching can be activated. If I'm not mistaken, Predro2NR mentioned that if you use the Operate my GO in TT Home, be sure to switch it do day mode before disconnecting the device from the PC.

Q3. Try the Find alternative function. Here you could let the device calculate an alternative route or you can define how to travel using the Travel via... function.

Unfortunately we have seen the day-night confusion before. Seems that several people have potential solutions but you can try putting the unit in its dock and using tt home set it for day colors and night colors at night. Then exit properly from the program.
And the lost in the pasture issue...well I drive a lot in rural areas and the map programs just simply do not do a good job with those. I think as E911 and other mandatory mapping programs come on line that may get better.
