NO roads ?

Ok, I am new to tomtom, coming from garmin. I do service work for a living and depend on a gps to get me at least close. But when using my new tomtom it will not get to a road that has been there for 20 years. Will not even show up when setting the destination. Now my garmin 205 has it in their maps and is right on. I hate using papaer maps so if this is will all tomtom's maybe it's time to head back to garmin
anyone have any ideas on why tomtom maps are so bad ?

Mapping on tomtoms is not the best in some areas. In others, Garmin has issues.

Make sure you have the city or town set right. That may be why TomTom is not finding the road.

So true dhn. My garmin does not know right from left most of the time. And have been 1/2 mile off too,. I like a lot of the features of the tomtom. Still wonder why on home it tells me I have a map update , and when I download it , it claims it can not be used on my 340tm. Really frustrating

I'd call customer support at 866-486-6866 and ask them to clarify why you seem to be getting the wrong map downloaded.

Update to the map issue. Called cs today which by the way was very polite and helpful. They had me delete the from device and download folders from the computer. Also delete the maps off the gps itself. then update with the new maps from tomtom home. Wala works now.
