After using the Add Community Content option to copy my POI file for IHOP to my TomTom, I get a message that says NO POIs Found or No POI Found when selecting the IHOP option.

What am I doing wrong?

When I edit the POI file in POIEdit, the locations show up on the google map so I feel certain the GPS coordinates are correct. And it is an OV2 file,

Thanks,
Richard

... true, if you are using "Near me" to find the POI. If you know and can search for the specific city in which the POI can be found, then it will find it. Right?

I am using POI in City and selecting Austin TX, there should be 8 locations. When I use the search for Restaurant, I see the locations.
I also have the same thing with my cracker barrel POIs.

Some questions for you...

1. If you go to "Manage POIs" and select "Delete POI category" do your newly added files appear in the list?

2. If you go to the "View map" screen and tap "Options" then "Choose POIs" can you select the IHOP categor to show?

3. If you make sure that on the next options screen ("Show on map..") "POIs" is ticked, do any appear if you zoom and scroll the map around? (zoom into street level).

All I'm trying to find out is if the POI category itself is missing or if the category is there but has no contents.

4. Have you done a "20-second power switch re-boot" since you added the new files?

When I go to Settings/Manage POI and select Edit POI Category, I see two categories, Cracker Barrel & IHOP.

When I go to Settings/Manage POI and then select Edit POI, I see a number of IHOP restaurants but not all. None of my entries for Texas are on the list. Same with Delete POI.

On the Show POI on map option, both Cracker Barrel and IHOP are checked.

Is the 20 second power reboot, just the action of holding down the power switch until the unit powers down and then Pressing the power switch to power it up? If so, then yes I have done that.

That looks to me like the 50 mile radius restriction. The list only shows you the nearest 96 entries.
And if you search within a POI category in the 'Navigate to.'. and 'View map' sections then it refuses to find ones further away than that.

Old models showed you less in that list (only the nearest 48), but allowed you to search every record in that whole POI file.

But I find that searching while in DELETE POI and EDIT POI does search the whole category file.

You might find it easier to see what's going on if you create a new POI category on the device itself and just make TWO entries. One near where you are now (Home?) and one a long way away (Texas?).

Then try searching for them in all the different ways we've mentioned (Find on map, Navigate to, Edit POI, Delete POI) and see what you find.

It should do more than just power down. Hold the power button down firmly until you hear the drum roll sound.

The IHOP has started working. But the cracker barrel is still not working. Maybe it was the 20 second reset that made the IHOP start working. When you asked about it, I went through the reset again. It may be that I did not reset the unit after loading the POIs. Thanks for pointing that out. You have been very helpful.

When I search for a restaurant by name and enter cracker, I see four entries within 50 miles. When I click Drive to POI in city and select Austin, and then select the Cracker Barrel category, I get No POI found. Not sure where to go from here?

When you say "search for a restaurant by name and enter cracker" that sounds like you're now using the built-in Restaurant POIs? I thought you said you had installed your own specific Cracker Barrel POI file?

If it's TomTom's own Restaurant POIs you're using now, I'll have to bow out straight away because you may be surprised to know that in Europe we don't have ANY brand separation within the Restaurant category, they are all lumped in together, so I have no idea how it functions for you in the US..

Good point, I decided to try to confirm your suspicion about the search being done in the TomTom POIs. I removed my Cracker Barrel file, performed a soft reset and then performed the search for Drive To / Point of Interest / POI in City, selected Austin again and then selected Search By name. I entered cracker barrel and the same four locations came up again. So it appears that my Cracker Barrel file is not registering. I read my Cracker Barrel file into POIEdit. Everything appears to be OK with the entries in the POI file. I decided to perform a save using POIEdit. Then I installed Cracker Barrel in my TomTom again and performed the soft reset. Now Cracker Barrel works. Maybe something was wrong with the format of the file. Life is good!

Thanks for all of your time... I owe you all.

God Bless :thumb:

The new Tomtoms with app 10.x or later are very picky about the proper format of the POI file. Lots of older, improperly formatted files are circulating on the web, and work fine on 9.x or earlier Tomtom models, but not newer ones.

If you every have an issue like this, just do the POIedit import and save. POIedit writes files in the proper format and cleans up the problem.
