"No Maps Found"

I have a TT1XL running App 7.131

I just bought a set of Western Europe maps (v6.75) from eBay that was advertised as working with TomTom One, but all I get when I start up after the maps were installed is "No Maps Found", even though the TomTom Home software shows that the maps are installed properly. Are these maps not compatible with the TT1XL?

I had to get an SD card to hold the maps, so I backed up the TT1XL and restored to the SD thru TT Home, then installed the Western Europe maps using TomTom Home.

The problem is, as I mentioned, when the TT1XL is booted from the SD card, it goes straight to "No Maps Found". I've tried removing the maps and reinstalling. I've also tried copying the "Western_Europe" map folder directly to the SD card and still no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I leave for Germany in 5 days and really would like to have TomTom with me.

When you go to 'Change preferences', 'Manage maps', 'Switch map', do you see your map in the list? If you see it, then select it.

In TTHome, or in the TT1XL itself? I can't get into the TT1XL - I get the splash screen, then a gray screen with "no maps found" and can't get past that.

I get the same thing when I try to chose "Operate My One XL" from TTHome and then TTHome locks up. But if I look at the "Show Contents of my One XL" in TTHome it shows the map as installed.

Map sets cannot be shared or resold, as they are permanently activated for a specific device when they are first used. You may have a set of files that have previously been activated.

I'm pretty sure the only legit source for maps is to purchase them directly from TomTom.

Either due to ignorance, or deceit, you may have gotten a very bad deal from eBay. Any chance you can get your money back?

Yeah, The ebay ad said "new" but what I got wasn't, even though I did get the product code to activate it. But because this trip came up more quickly than I expected, I jumped at what looked to be a good deal. So its probably both - ignorance on my part, deceit on his.

In any case... I seem to have some how made it work. I ran through the entire process again - this time doing things a bit different.

* Wiped out SD card in PC card reader
* Inserted SD in TT1XL, restart and install 7.131 app.
* Restarted again and restore backup to SD card.
* This time it came up on my US/Canada map. I went in and switched to Guam
* Uninstalled US/Canada map to make room for Western Europe (SD card is only 1GB)
* Installed Western_Europe map through TT Home
* Map shows installed in TT Home, but it doesn't show up in map list in "Change Preferences"
* Manually copied Western_Europe folder to SD card and restarted.
* This time the Western Europe map showed up in the map list
* Switched the map to Western Europe, activated it successfully.

SO.... now I can boot up and can at least locate addresses I'll be visiting. Maybe I'm all set.
