No maps found

I had some problem when I updated my gps with mapshare and when I did it was a bit glitchy so I decided to restore the thing, after it finished it says no maps found.

if I have to buy new maps please tell me I don't see why though I would never buy another tomtom product if so, that is a total violation of fair use laws (I have the right to make one ONE copy for backup purposes)

First of all, when you look at the contents of the unit using Explorer, do you see a map folder with a bunch of files in it? If so, next question, was the map the original one that came with the unit or an updated one?

If the answer is 'updated', then look in the map folder for a file with the extension of .meta.dct. Do you see one? Report back and we will proceed from there.
