No Maps found for me too...

Hello all...

I too have the no maps found message on my tomtom. I see the usa folder when I view the files but all I get is a screen that I cant get around. any suggestions?

Hi squeak, can you click on preferences, manage maps, change maps, and choose a map there? Or is that where it says "no maps" ? Have you made any modifications to your unit or is it as-is when purchased?

no I cant go any further than the "maps not found " page... I called c/s and they told me that I need to get a certifacate(sp) but their server is down and that I have to call back...

I did not make any mods... I may have only removed the guam map everything else is the same

I added the guam back and was able to go to the manage maps... it only shows guam to add. the usa map was not listed as an option... but its listed as a folder... on my drive

Sounds like you are missing one or more files from USA map folder. One of my first backups has these files in folder:

cline.dat
cname.dat
cnode.dat
faces.dat
mapinfo.dat
mapsettings.cfg
poi.dat
tmccodes.dat
traffic.dat
usa_&_canada.mid
usa_&_canada.mms
usa_&_canada.pna

If you call C/S your going to be on hold a long time today... 1st rep had no clue on how to assist. By the time I spoke to a 2nd rep I was ready to try my own fix... I tried her suggestion it did not work.. With the 2nd rep on the phone this is what I did...

I went to my computer and saw ( on the TomTom e:/ drive) that I had both Guam and usa_and_canada folders. I already downloaded the latest updates to my local PC ( this was done xmas morning ~ very big file 900mb )

I tried to delete the USA folder on the TomTom via the e:/ drive... As TomTom home did not list the USA map. I was able to delete some of the files but not all, so I just deleted what I could and rename the folder to USA2.

I now had space on my TomTom, so I went to TomTom home and added the usa map from my local PC to the TomTom using TomTom home ( it has an option to add maps from your PC).

After install I went to the map option ( on the TOMTom via TomTom Home) to change form Guam to USA. So far all is good. The GPS was able to find where I was. Only issue so far is that TomTom can not find my home as I live in a new community built 3 years ago.. built with new streets..... I'll drive around during lunch and see if TomTom will work.
