No Map, Just Blue !

We've had our 330S for a few months.Doesn't really get used that much and has completely discharged a couple of times....Here's the situation_When we start-up the unit, now, there's no map anymore. It's just blue..Put in a destination and you have a big white directional arrow on a single gray road, with instructions on the route and voice prompts, but NO map...I've looked in the details section for the route and all the images are there, except for the Demo which only shows the blue screen and arrow....Any ideas?

I had this happen a few times. It's most likely map corruption. Best thing to do is reinstall the software and map.

At times I had a crazy looking map and sometimes nothing but blue. It would alternate between blue and craziness between reboots. My old TomTom XL just needed a fresh install of everything.

Edit : Sorry for the large pictures. These are almost a year old and didn't know about the screen capture trick on the TomToms back then.

Do tell ... what IS the trick? I thought people were just snagging shots from TTHome all this time.

Thanks for the quick response....The first picture is pretty much what we've got goin'...How do you go about doing the reinstall?

Create a folder on the root of your TomTom labeled "screen" and then in that folder, create a file called "capture" with no file extension. To take a snapshot, just tap on the upper left of the TomTom screen where the "Zoom in" or "+"button is. You can take a screen shot from ANY screen on your TomTom. You will hear a camera shutter noise letting you know you have taken the screenshot.

And to the original poster, I will dig up my thread where I posted my steps. But in short, I simply backed my my device using Windows explorer (make sure you have view hidden and system files enabled) and then I performed a full format on my TomTom. I then opened up TomTom Home, and let Home start installing everything from scratch. It will first install the operating system a few times (it will step up in versions) and then you select/download/install your map, then your voices, etc.

Thanks,Sage...Another thing I just noticed ,going through the Preferences, is that the Options for 2D or 3D map view is grayed-out and gone.
