TomTom Model(s)
8275 bridge
Hi I am new to this forum. I had an issue with tomtom 8275 bridge. After I update to firmware 18. Somehow my tomtom missing the map so now I can't used it since it keep asking to reinstall the map. Now my question is how can I update the map and also somehow my tomtom could not be connected to pc so using tomtom software for pc is no go. I try both tomtom software and same result. When I connected to pc it just show me it's connect but no files in there just black screen.

Wow - the 18 version firmware was released back in 2018. What version were you running before the update?

When you're connected to the PC, you need to go to the little systray in the lower right corner of your 8275, select the USB options, and tell it you're OK with connecting for file transfers. That's how all Android devices tend to work for security purposes. Until then, opening it as a storage device will only bring up a blank screen - won't show you any content. I believe the default is "for charging".

Not sure what TomTom software you're hooking it up to -- there isn't any for this device.

Now, let's get down to the issue of the update. Do you update over automatically offered items via WiFi, or do you manually download the firmware/map set from the developers' site? When booting, does your device show the WebFleet logo?

Is your device using the 'Classic' or 'NDS' map set (when it's happy enough that it has one)?

Hi thank you for your quick respond. Before the update I believe it was version 17. Yes I got the update from the link on this forum from the developer website. When I boot the system it show tomtom logo and the the webfleet after that. Not sure what map it was supported since the update my map icon is also missing.

After I follow your instruction now I can see the internal and external memory when connected to pc. I used tomtom mydrive and tomtom home. Is there any special software for 8275?.

I check the build number is 18.621.1352.136 os italia-m-rel -18.6.4451

I am not sure if it can help to determined if the map is nds or classic.

Using a file from the developer's site would not have caused your device to switch to Webfleet, so it must have been that way already.

If your device showed Webfleet logo before your update to v 18, you should NOT have used the developer's site for your update file. Instead, you should use https://mdm.business.tomtom.com/static/#/downloads

Yes I did try the website you gave me and it gave error, also I notice it's the same link that when I try to update the device when I just got it and it's not working. After i did some digging on line I came across this link for webfleet only device for country of Australia N NZ, Africa, Europe, Latin America And Canada, USA, Mexico.

Please share this link https://mdm.webfleet.com/static/#/downloads

It's update the system to ver 18 and update the map too. Not sure if it the latest firmware but it's working for me.

Apologies. I keep grabbing the wrong (old) Webfleet link. I'll get rid of that old one here so I don't keep using it as a reference.

Sounds like moving over to the Webfleet download has worked for you, then?

Hi so sorry to bump this thread again. I just updated my tomtom pro 8275 with the latest up date and again this problem came again with map missing. I try updated it by wifi and sd card with no result. Also the system keep downloading the up date but when I want to install it. it gave me the error message said the content package is corrupt. Is there any way to restore to the factory firmware?.

Yes, you can revert to previous firmware. The process makes use of the rescue.img that resides in the root of your device. Now I just have to try to remember how to do it! It's been some years. It's the 'Factory Reset' procedure that should look for that file.

That said, I wonder if perhaps you got the wrong file for your device during a manual (using SD card) download, and that's what is causing this? It is very easy to get the truck vs. non-truck or the other way around, and that produces these kinds of messages. Have a look at that possibility. If no joy, get back to me and we'll talk about the 'factory reset' situation.

Hi I did try all 3 files that they had on their Web site and all of them saying that couldn't update because of corrupted data. Also I forgot to mention that I can't power off the device the only thing I can do is just reset it. It seem that my device got corrupted and I need to reset all back to normal before try it again.

Ugh. Have you already attempted the Factory Reset procedure?

It's out in the OS Settings:
Settings / Personal - Reset / Factory Data Reset / Reset

Very glad to hear that it finished well for you.
There's really no support to call on at TomTom for these devices now.
