No Audio

I recently synced my 720 and applied all the updates it recommended. Since then I have no audio. When I take out my SD card the audio comes back.

I have checked and the audio is set to play through the internal speaker. I have checked that the voices are turned on.

Everything worked great before the update. Any ideas on what's causing this?

In sequence, try this:
1- a pin reset of the unit with the card in and with the card out.
if no success:
2 - Clear flash tool located here: http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6211&Lid=4&nostat=1
if no success:
3 - Restore to factory defaults (you will lose custome settings with this one and have to re-enter them.
if no success: guess you'll have to call TT Support.

Thanks for the quick response. I have tried the pin reset with the card in. No luck. I also tried the restore to factory defaults witht he card in. No luck.

I'll try the others this evening and report back.

I presume by 'all the updates' in your 1st post, you meant firmware updates. If you had an Explorer backup (I hope so!) prior to the update, you could also try to downgrade to a previous firmware level where audio worked.

Yeah I cringed when I read what I wrote. I realize that description of what I updated is not great. I believe it was a firmware update, some updates to a couple voices, and some mapshare updates. I do have a backup.

What puzzles me is why the audio works with no card. Is the firmware stored on the card or on the internal memory? Should I try reformatting the card?

There is no reason the firmware CAN'T be on the sd card but the usual location is on the internal unit's flash memory since the x20 (and x30) models uses sd memory IN ADDITION to core memory anyway.

Use Explorer and see where the loose files are stored in the root directory -- on the unit or the sd card. By loose files, I mean NOT folders or their contents.

Not sure, but maybe when you updated those voices, that caused your problem?

Just a thought.

Same Here

Hey Haggertus, did you get it working again? What I noticed was interesting is the audio will play when in the cradle but not when I take it out. I did a good backup before the update and wouldn't you know it I try to restore now and it fails.

Damn!

Thanks,

Was the 'good' backup with Home or Explorer? What fails when you try to restore?
