No Audio on TomTom Go app in Carplay

I have the TomTom Go app on my iPhone 15.
I use it in my car...connected by a usb...with apple carplay.
In the Settings....Voices I have the voice volume all the way to 100% and have enabled "Read Aloud Early Instructions"
I have also enabled "Mix with Entertainment Audio" as i hate the music stopping and starting.
I wasn't entirely sure whether to enable "run app in background" but as it indicates voice instructions while app is running in the background i enabled it.

My problem is that the voice instructions from the TomTom app are either so faint that they are inaudible...OR...non existant.

Is there something that I'm missing or doing wrong?
Can anybody help me with a solution so that I can actually hear the app?

Pressing the physical volume buttons on the phone during voice instructions doesn't do the trick. That works with the iPhone not connected to Apple CarPlay. But I just connected my iPhone to my Mac using USB and checked with the CarPlay Simulator app and it has no effect.

But if I'm on the phone itself in Settings > Voices > Choose a voice, tap the selected voice to get a voice demo and then quickly go back while that is playing I can use the volume slider to adjust the voice in CarPlay.
