Just purchased a TT XL2 full europe and have attempted to download the latest map using TomTomHome but had to abort because it was going to take six and a half hours to download.

Problem seems to be that I live a remote area where the max broadband speed is 512kbps so it will take an age to do. Also, battery life on my TT is max 3 hours so even if I left the download to run would it fail anyway when the battery runs out? Or does the TT take power off the computer when connected?

Have asked Tom Tom for a DVD with the latest map - but no can do.

Any ideas?

The unit is getting power from the computer while connected so that isn't going to be an issue but the slow download speed will be aggrevating.

At least if the download fails part way through, Home SHOULD be able to pick up from where it stopped when it restarts.

We've had a LOT of anecdotal evidence that when computers accidentally go into "suspend" or "hibernate" or whatever during long downloads, Home is not always able to pick up where it left off exactly, causing users some problems. We always recommend that users with slow connections or wireless connections are certain that their PC's power saving features are disabled during long downloads.
