Tom tom go 520

Hello DHN super moderator

Thank you for your welcome. I an in the united kingdom and I have and use a go 520.

The problem I have is that I am trying to install an ov2 file of all the petrol filling staions in the Uk that are Texaco. I have been sent an ov2 link to download to my tom tom.

Here is the link they sent me.....

The Fuelcard Company

About halfway down the list you will see the link for Texaco, I download this to my pc then load it onto my tom tom but when I try to locate this on my tom tom its not listed in the POI section. It is just listed in the files as an ordinary file and it wont open.

Can you please advise in plain simple language (told you I was a novice !!!!) how I go about aetting this up on my tom tom.
Thank you

Sweet Regards
Sophie

Once you click on the link for Texaco/Tomtom, a zipped (compressed) file gets downloaded to a location you select on your computer.

You then need a utility to extract the contents of that zipped file to the specific map folder on your unit. So, use WinRar or Unzip or whatever to extract them, either directly to the unit (assuming the unit is connected to the computer) or to a location on your computer (\temp folder, maybe?) and then use Explorer to copy them to the specific map folder on the unit.

There are 3 different types of ov2 files (and 3 associated bmp's) in that download. So you would extract all six files to your specific map folder.

Then, in your unit, Manage pois. show on map, you'll see the 3 different types listed. Just check them off and they'll show on your map.

Once you've done the extraction, you can delete the .zip file, if you wish.

But make sure everything shows at it should, first.

Mnay thanks DHN that worked a treat, I am now up and running on my tom tom with texaco garages instead of having to look for them on a map book.

Have a good day:)
