You can use it right out of the box, but be aware that the firmware and maps might not be quite up to date. Things like tweaks to roads and additions of "Points of Interest" are constantly being updated. Whether this impacts your use of the unit would depend primarily upon whether any of the updated map information happens to coincide with your trips.Hi,
I just received my 1st GPS, the TT Go 720. Do I need to update anything from my Intel iMac or can I just use right out of the box?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks for all of your help.
I may just use my work laptop which is windows based.

I'm in the same situation with my first GPS (TT 720); I also have a work laptop that runs Windows, and my home machine is a Mac. I've connected OK with the Mac, but to run the latest software I decided to do all updates and backups on the laptop. I've had no issues.
There's also some Windows-only software (Tyre) that is just way too cool for what I want to do, like lay out itineraries with lots of waypoints for motorcycle rides.
Unfortunately I won't actually get out to DO any of the rides until the weather improves a bit , but it's fun to dream them up...
