Newbie faq ?

My Go720 will arrive in a few days and I have lots of questions.
Is there a abbreviated list ? LMG,VR, app ( firmware? ), navcore, internal and external app?
is the app (firmware) update for free?
Which firmware goes with which map version for US and Canada ?
I'll have to update the app (firmware?) and map, where should I have them on, external sdcard?
Will I be able to transfer these data/app to a larger sdcard (will put lots of mp3 fiiles ) down the road?
Will it be striaght transfer or lots of patching?
Should I have everything on the external sdcard?
Files/Folders structure, system flow chart?
I apologize if such a Faq exist, please point me to it.

As soon as you get the unit, make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents, ensuring hidden files/folders are showing.

If the unit is a refurb, there is no entitlement for the LMG (latest map guarantee) but some users do get it after calling support at 866-486-6866. If the unit is new, you should be offered it using Home's tools-->LMG. But first, you should update the application to the latest (8.351). Tap the sateelite bars on the unit to see the application version installed.

You can install the application on internal and, for flexibility and to make your life easier, get a sdhc card from a reliable company, the faster speed the better (at least class 4). The 720 uses external storage in conjunction with internal and can deal with 32 gig cards (though that's a bit of overkill). Then just put the map folder on the sdhc card. I use a 4-gig sdhc card and my NA map resides there. This allows for more room on either internal or the card for mp3s, it doesn't matter. As long as mp3s are in a mp3 folder (all lower case) then the application sees them.

In summary, put the map on the sdhc card and you can leave everything else on internal. The latest map is 835 and another one won't be out in the next 30 days so there is no point in waiting to update your map.

Once the map and application are updated, make (new) Explorer backups of both internal and the card.
